Corner Drop Test
This aluminum fuel tank has been tested to the corner-drop requirements used for side-mounted truck fuel tanks. In this test, the fully assembled tank is filled with water to simulate its maximum fuel load and dropped 30 feet onto one exposed corner onto an unyielding steel surface. After impact, the tank and all fittings must remain intact and may not leak more than 1 ounce of fluid per minute, demonstrating that the tank can withstand severe real-world impact loads while maintaining structural integrity and containing its contents.
Filler Neck Drop Test
This aluminum fuel tank is also designed to meet the fill neck drop test standard used for side-mounted truck fuel tanks. In this test, the fully assembled tank is filled with water to simulate its maximum fuel capacity and dropped 10 feet directly onto the fill neck onto an unyielding surface. To pass, the tank and all associated fittings must remain structurally sound and may not leak more than 1 ounce of fluid per minute after impact. This demonstrates that the fill neck and surrounding structure can withstand severe abuse and accidental impact without compromising the tank’s ability to safely contain fuel.
